OnePlus confirms Android Q for its devices

On the launch of Oneplus 7 and Oneplus 7 Pro, OxygenOS 9.5 was also introduced with its new features by the OnePlus. The OS will be coming to older smartphones having new features. Also, with the OxygenOS, OnePlus confirms android Q for its devices.

Manu j., the global product operations manager on a forum post posted the OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T will be getting OS 9.5. In addition, he also mentioned the Android Q will be coming to these four devices.  The android Q developer beta has already reached the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T.

“We have already released Android Q Developer Preview on the forum for the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 6/6T, available. For those wondering, rest assured: Android Q will also make its way to the OnePlus 5 and 5T. Just remember, there are no ETAs.”

The forum post has not particularly mentioned the date for the rollout of the Android Q. But, it is clear that the Android Q will roll out only after the Google has pushed the update on the Pixel devices. The tech giant, Google, usually push the rollout for the Pixel smartphones on the months of August – September. So, it can be believed that the rollout of Android Q for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T can be on the month of October. After that, its other two devices, OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T might get the update of Android Q on the later few months after that.

Also, here is the quick discussion of the new features of OxygenOS 9.5, in case you want to know. So, the new features of the OS include:

Fnatic Mode – A mode to get unmatched performance when playing multiplayer games online. In this mode, the CPU boosts so that players can play the games.

Zen Mode – A 20 minutes mode where you can just enjoy the surroundings you’re in without any distractions. You still have the access to camera and emergency calls though.

Screen Recorder – A native screen recorder for the mobile which can record with perfectly synchronized high quality, internal sound including videos.

Quick Reply (In Landscape) – It improves the experience of watching videos or playing games easy and convenient. But, the notifications can disturb while doing it.

DC dimming – It is an alternative method to adjust the screen brightness. When enabled, it will reduce screen flickers at low brightness which may lead to abnormal colours being displayed in some cases.

Ram Boost – By learning how you use your phone, it will increase RAM utilization according to your usage.

VERDICT:

With the tagline, ‘Never Settle’, OnePlus is nowhere to settle. The new features of OxygenOS 9.5 seem pretty cool especially the DC dimming and Zen mode. I would like to see how the updates do on the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5 T. Also, It would be really cool if Android Q rolls out sooner than expected.
